Welcome To Derek Du Jour, my personal fashion and style blog.

I know, I know, you're probably thinking 'not another one', right? Well don't shoot me down just yet, because this won't be your typical "OOTD" blog. It's going to be informative, interesting, and inspirational (I hope x 3). I'll be sharing personal essays correlating to fashion from the usual outfit posts to fashion editorials, all with an informative and hopefully insightful edge.

I blogged years ago and thought that I would never revisit this realm but quite a few of my friends have urged and pushed me to restart one. I was apprehensive at first, with the lingering thoughts of how blogging hadn't fulfilled my soul during those days. So after pondering for days, weeks, maybe a month, I finally found my reason and motivation, but this time around I'm going to do blogging right.

My main motivation for starting this blog is the lack of… I guess you could say androgynous, gender fluid, or IDGAF I-wear-what-I-want influencers. I'm not doing this out of vanity (maybe just a tad, jk) or to show off my materialistic gains (I'm broke on a budget) but I wanted to create a platform, an inspirational site/source for people like me: the oddballs, weirdoes, 'it's, unicorns(self-proclaimed), and otherworldly creatures. For the teenagers who are finding their voices, for the people who see fashion in a black and white binary gender world, and for so many others because I want to show and educate all these people that humans like me exist. I want to help break down these social norms and the outdated mindsets of how one must dress because they're of a certain gender, from a certain region, or from a specific culture.

Thankfully our world is really moving towards a gender fluid accepting society and it's quite beautiful to see people flourishing happily in their own skin (and clothes) and really getting to discover themselves. Fashion plays a big role in self-discovery because its helping people cross boundaries to explore new unknown facets of life which then leads them to create their own world. More and more people are marching to the beat of their own drum towards their own happiness. However, there is still a lot of work to do as most of the world still isn't onboard the progressive ship, but hopefully the little life of this blog can help push at least a few people on.

I'm a fashion/life enthusiast, stylist, and hopefully eventually an inspiration, but... I am most definitely not a writer so apologies in advanced for any punctuation, grammar, or anything pertaining to english language mistakes. Also, as a heads up, I can be a bit of a potty mouth.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you are as excited about this journey as I am.

x d

PS. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported and pushed me to start this new little project of mine. You know who you are.
